elongated oval, the lid painted with a portrait miniature of Marie Leszczynska after Carle van Loo, initialed CP to lower right, surrounded by boldly chased scrollwork and flower garlands on a translucent dark blue enamel ground, the sides and base further decorated with blue basse-taille enamel vignettes of a harbour scene, gardening and love trophies or flower sprays, French prestige marks including maker's mark, charge and discharge marks of Jean-Jacques Prevost (1762-1768), Paris date letter D for 1767
