oval, the lid painted en plein with a classical temple and a bridge by a bay with sailboats against pink skies, framed by black and white taille d'épargne border including bright-cut stylised trefoils, the lid with scalloped edges along the sides, opening to reveal an engraved version of a similar view of a sailboats flanked by rockery and trees on a gold ground, filled in white enamel, the sides further decorated with dividers formed of enamelled trophies of love on an opaque black background, apparently unmarked
