A LOUIS XVI ENAMELED GOLD BOÎTE À MOUCHES ET À ROUGE, CHARLES LE BASTIER, PARIS, 1777
rectangular, opening at top and base, enameled with silhouetted trees and plants set in pale peach enamel over engine-turning, chased borders of running leaves and swags with translucent red berries at intervals and within white line borders, the interiors fitted with mirrors, one side with hinged inner cover enameled to match, marked inside base and on side with maker’s mark, charge mark of Jean-Baptiste Fouache, date letter 0, and stamped 870, monkey’s head discharge on rim. Together with a gold-handled brush, struck with two control marks not clear, 2 pieces
