This bottle represents the pinnacle of the Van Winkle era at Stitzel-Weller. It is everything that the company’s president, Julian “Pappy” Van Winkle, wanted out of a bourbon: a wheated mashbill, 100 proof, and a decade in age. Unfortunately, Van Winkle would never would have seen this particular bottle – he retired in 1964 and died in 1965.
