This photograph of Sophia Loren was taken by Philippe Halsman at the Via Appia in Rome and used by Picture Post as their cover story in their 13th August 1955 issue. On the reverse of the piece is Philippe Halsman's copyright rubber stamp and signature in graphite. This information can be seen through the perspex window on the back of the frame. Phillippe Halsman sold his archive in 1967, and the previous owner of the piece purchased it at that time.


Exceptionally rare. It is believed that only a handful of these were printed at the time.
