This American mystery thriller was based on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes detective stories. The film was directed by Roy William Neill, and the cast includes Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce. It is the eighth of twelve Sherlock Holmes films made by Universal and starring Rathbone and Bruce. In this film Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson are attending a conference on the occult in Quebec City when they get drawn into a murder case in the local village, where the villages think that the murder was committed by a fabled monster, but Homes and Watson think otherwise.
