2019

Created by famed Nike designer Tinker Hatfield, the Air Jordan 4 was originally released in 1989 and debuted by Michael Jordan at the 1989 NBA All-Star Game. It was released in four colorways: white and cement gray; white, black, and red; off-white and military blue; and black and red (bred). The design was Hatfield’s second Air Jordan model and also just the second to feature visible air. Due to its immense popularity, the Air Jordan 4 has seen many innovative collaborations and re-releases throughout its history.

In the spring of 2019, the Jordan Brand produced these Air Jordan 4 Retro ‘Georgetown’ Player Exclusive sneakers as an homage to the Georgetown Hoyas basketball team. The design features a predominantly cement gray upper, navy interior lining, white midsole, and a translucent outsole. Georgetown’s logo is present on each tongue. ‘Georgetown 33’ and ‘Basketball 33’ are stitched on the interior of the left and right tongues respectively. The number 33 honors Georgetown legend and current head coach Patrick Ewing. The heel of each shoe bears the Jumpman logo.

The Georgetown men’s basketball team has a rich history highlighted by their 1984 NCAA championship. Some of their legendary players include Patrick Ewing, Dikembe Mutombo, and Allen Iverson.
