This June, Sotheby’s is thrilled to present Fine Books and Manuscripts, including Americana, as part of our Fine Books and Manuscripts sale series, open for bidding on 11 June and culminating in a live auction on 25 June.
Among the highlights from the sale are eight recently recovered love letters from John Keats to Fanny Brawne, undoubtedly the most significant collection in private hands of the greatest love letters in the English language, with exceptional provenance from the Hay-Whitney estate. In keeping with Sotheby's "America 250" initiative, we are also proud to offer Andrew Wyeth's copy of Edward S. Curtis's The North American Indian, a powerful visual record of indigenous life in America which boasts exceptional provenance from the artist as well as spectacular condition.
