4to (254 x 186mm.), first title within woodcut border, second title with woodcut printer's device, full-page woodcut illustrations, argomento for each canto within a woodcut cartouche, woodcut initials and headpieces, without final blank, contemporary vellum, blue edges, occasional light staining, a few small repaired wormholes


This is a reprint of the 1556 Valgrisi quarto edition, edited by Girolamo Ruscelli, with additional woodcuts for the incomplete sequel I cinque canti which first appeared alongside Orlando furioso in 1565. The woodcuts were used until at least 1603.
