A wooden and silver-plated metal inkwell, probably France circa 1760 

resting on four blackened wooden feet, of scalloped form, presenting on the front two round boxes with openwork cover, one with lead lining for the ink, two openings with moulded thread border, six rounds including two with linings, the handle with decoration of long gadrons

reposant sur quatre pieds en bois noirci, de forme chantournée, présentant sur l'avant deux boîtes rondes à couvercle ajouré, l'une avec doublure en plomb pour l'encre, deux ouvertures à bord mouluré de filets, six rondes dont deux avec doublures, le manche à décor de longs gaudrons
