Calendar complications have always been at the very heart of the brand Patek Philippe. Indeed, the famed Geneva maison was the first to ever case the perpetual calendar in a wristwatch, and the brand's very first ever reference, the 96, also featured a calendar variation. Fast forward to the early 90s, Patek Philippe once again innovated by creating the world's first Annual Calendar, designed to fill the gap in their catalogue between their $9,000 Calatravas and $45,000 perpetual calendars.
The sequel to that first reference, the 5035, is the present reference 5036. Utilising the same basic and extremely intuitive layout, the new reference featured several design refinements which drastically improved the overall aesthetic, including replacing the 24-hour subdial with a moonphase. The present example also includes a luxurious and supple gold bracelet.
