the hilt of mottled and streaked nephrite jade ranging in tone from dark grey to pale grey, finely carved and abraded in the form of a horse’s head with incised mane, set-back ears, flared nostrils, and open mouth with inset eyes of banded agate outlined in kundan gold, the quillons carved with acanthus leaves in low relief with a full-face marigold blossom at the base of the grip, the slightly curved double-edged watered steel blade with medial ridge, scabbard of red velvet with a gilt-copper locket and chape decorated with punched floral lattice and floral fringe
