Perhaps the School of Alonso Cano (Granada 1601 – 1667)

This present sculpture depicts Christ after the Deposition, as evidenced by the presence of the stigmata and his flank. The anonymous sculptor may have been a member of the school of Alonso Cano. The draping of the robe, facial expression and positioning of the body all bear a resemblance to Cano’s Pieta, currently in the Museo Cerralbo, which is datable to the latter half of the 1640s.
