Frank Lewis Dyer & Thomas Commerford Martin. Edison: His Life and Inventions. 2 vols. New York: Harper & Brothers, 1910 — Dyer & Martin, with the Collaboration of William Henry Meadowcroft. Edison: His Life and Inventions. 2 vols. New York: Harper & Brothers, 1929

Together 2 editions in 4 vols., 8vo, 1910 ed. (8⅛ x 5¼ in.; 216 x 135 mm), 1929 ed. (9⅜ x 6¼ in.; 239 x 160 mm). Both eds. with photographic frontispiece portraits and numerous photographic plates. 1910 ed. in publisher's blue cloth gilt, top edges gilt; some very light fading to covers, short tear at head of rear joint of vol. 2. 1929 ed. in publisher's maroon cloth gilt.

First and later, expanded editions; both sets signed by Edison ("Thos A Edison") on front free endpaper of first volume. The 1910 edition has mounted below the signature a block of four 1901 Pan Am 4-cent Commemorative Automobile postage stamps, with a cancellation from East Orange, New Jersey, 4 January 1928. (While not one of his more successful experiments, Edison did work on an electric car.) The 1929 set has mounted below the signature a block of eight 1929 2-cent "Edison's First Lamp Electric Lights Golden Jubilee" postage stamps, with a cancellation from East Orange, 1 October 1929. This volume is further inscribed by the co-author—and Edison's secretary—William Henry Meadowcroft: "To my friend Aage B. Nilson, with all good wishes, Wm H Meadowcroft, October 23, 1929."
