Made to commemorate the new millennium in the year 2000, the Patek Philippe reference 5100 was produced in a special limited series of 3,000 pieces. There exist 1,500 in yellow gold, 750 in pink gold, 450 in white gold and 300 in platinum. The collection is of many unusual features, with a unique case of flared sides, it was inspired by one of the most majestic creatures in the oceans, the "Manta Ray". Mechanically, this watch features the calibre 28-20/220 which provides the maison’s first ever 10-day movement with an indicator at 12 o’clock tracking the power reserve.
The present example houses a C.O.S.C certified movement and is accompanied by its full set of accessories. The watch was formerly the property of Alan Banbery, former director of the Patek Philippe Museum.
