Launched in 1972, the Royal Oak redefined luxury for Audemars Piguet, establishing the brand as a leader in a new market segment. Nearly 20 years later, designer Emmanuel Gueit introduced the Royal Oak Offshore—a larger, sportier, and bolder evolution. The name, inspired by offshore boat racing’s fast-paced and adventurous nature, aimed to appeal to younger men. The first model, reference 25721ST, earned the nickname “The Beast” for its imposing design.
In 1998, Audemars Piguet unveiled the Royal Oak Offshore 25721TI, pioneering the use of titanium in watchmaking. Although AP had researched titanium since the 1970s, integrating it into the 1986 tourbillon carriage and the 1997 Jules Audemars Grande Sonnerie, the 25721TI was the first full-titanium AP watch, including the bracelet.
Responding to customer demand for a lightweight 42mm model with a metal bracelet, the titanium variant—crafted with case-maker Donze Baume—offers a third of the weight of steel. At a glance, the 42mm ref. 25721TI resembles the steel “Beast,” but its lightness sets it apart. We are pleased to present this “Titanium Beast” in excellent condition.
