Rolex is perhaps the most known watch brand in the world, and their approach to watchmaking can best be summarized as “evolution over revolution”. The brand is notoriously conservative with calculated steps that honor its rich heritage of innovation and in no model is that more evident than the Oyster Perpetual lineup of its watches. The ‘OP’ - as it’s called by collectors – is the purest execution of what a Rolex is and bares a strong resemblance to the earliest Rolex Oyster case watches made a century ago. With that in mind, you can imagine the surprise of watch collectors when in 2020 Rolex released a suite of Oyster Perpetuals in a myriad of bright colors ranging from yellow, green, and pink to a beautiful turquoise blue. No surprise, this daring release was a hit, and it was quickly followed up in 2023 with the present watch – the ‘Celebration Dial’. This elegant and playful watch combines all 5 of the original colors into a series of 51 circular balloons spread across the dial. An instantaneous hit, like so many stainless-steel sports Rolex before it, it was seldom seen in stores and the subject of waitlists globally. We are thrilled to present this example for offer during our inaugural Saudi Arabia sale, as a rare example of Rolex taking a walk on the wild side.
