in Neo-Rococo taste, the concave quatrefoil petals enamelled in translucent sky blue over radiating wavy engine-turning, the gold borders with scrolls, blossoms and foliage, replaced ivorine back, struck on the side and the strut with workmaster's initials, Fabergé in Cyrillic, 56 standard, scratched inventory number 55678

According to A. Guzanov and R.R. Gafifulin, Fabergé Items of Late XIX – Early XX Century in the Collection of the State Museum Pavlovsk, 2013, p. 97 a blue enamel frame with scratched number 55678 was purchased from the St Petersburg branch of Fabergé by Empress Dowager Maria Feodorovna on 28 December 1896, for 140 roubles.
