A Group of twenty-eight pieces from the same service, formerly in the collection of Bertram K. and Nina Fletcher Little, sold in these rooms, January 29th, 1994, lot 220. This group of wares were brought from China in 1828 by Captain Andrew Blanchard of Medford, Massachusetts, to his seven-year-old niece, Mary Waters (Blanchard) Harlow. The service was inherited by her daughter, Katharine Harlow, who gave it to her daughter (or niece) Ruth Kidder, who then sold it. The service was acquired by the Little family later on because of a family connection. Mr. Bertram K Little's great-grandfather was David Kimball, who married Augusta Blanchard, the sister of Captain Andrew Blanchard.
