Tradition relates that Bizen Osafune Chikakage was the son of Chikatsune, a student of Nagamitsu and a contemporary of Bizen Kagemitsu. He produced some extremely fine works including a National Treasure blade dated equivalent to 1339. He also credited with the making of four tachi which are classified as Juyo Bunkazai [Important Cultural Property], and one tachi and three katana that are classified as Juyo Bijitsuhin [Imporant Works of Art].
