Edo period, 17th century
the sixty-two plate russet iron bowl with raised rivets and ridges, terminating in a six-stage copper-gilt tehen kanamono, russet iron peak with red lacquer underside, gold and black lacquer turn backs in the form of twisted kuwagata, five-tiered gold lacquer neck guard with close-spaced lacing in blue braid, leather and linen lining
The bowl to peak: 26 cm., 10 in.
