A FINE WATERCOLOUR. American artist Newman (1843-1917) and his English wife spent their winters in Egypt from the mid-1880s residing in a large houseboat which became a familiar sight to the many tourists who travelled up the Nile to visit Philae. Other examples of Newman's work is in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
