Nova torius terrarum orbis geographica ac hydrographica tabula. [Amsterdam, 1635 or later]
(474 x 580mm.), double-page world map (engraved by Josua van den Ende) on the Mercator projection surrounded by upper and lower friezes incorporating vignettes representing the planets and the seven wonders of the ancient world, and two side borders depicting the seasons and the four elements, Latin text on verso, contemporary hand-colour, a few minor marginal repairs
A FINE COPY. "The classic single-sheet world map on Mercator's projection, brought out by Willem J. Blaeu in 1606, remained in active circulation for over fifty years. It is celebrated as one of the supreme examples of the map maker's art" (Shirley).
