3 volumes, folio (520 x 355mm.), comprising: volume 1, Notes, mounted original photograph, 26 sheets of facsimile notes with hand-coloured day designators, 30 engraved plans. maps and plates, including one double-page plan of Jerusalem, some with hand-colour; volume 2, Photographs, 75 mounted original photographs by Sergeant James McDonald, including 2 fold-out, occasional fading; volume 3, Plans, 5 folding engraved maps and plans backed on linen and edged in blue, loose as issued in original portfolio, original cloth bindings lettered in gilt, volume 1 with original morocco corners and spine, the others rebacked and recornered
Wilson’s survey was undertaken on behalf of the Water Relief Committee, to provide a detailed guide to Jerusalem’s wells, conduits, cisterns etc. Wilson went on to become a key member of the Palestinian Exploration Fund, involved in several further surveys of the region.
