A Pair of Egyptian Silver Torah Finials, Cairo, circa 1900


each of spool form with domed top, engine-turned borders, baluster finials, engraved in Hebrew and "Gabbou Aslan Palombo 1926", hung with bells on chains


Height 8¼in. (21 cm)

Aslan-Leon Palombo was born before 1902; he and his wife Marie Palombo (Nehmad; d. 1937) had six children.  He died in 1943 in Cairo.

The Hebrew text on each finial reads: “The Holy Community of Neve Shalom.”
