A native of Piacenza—an important economic hub where trade flourished and diverse cultural influences converged—De Carro was shaped by a rich artistic environment. His most notable surviving work is a polyptych of the Madonna and Saints, originally created for the convent of Santa Franca in Pittolo and now housed in the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris.
