Description
Set with a step-cut emerald within rose-cut diamond set claws, with an outer surround of tendrils set with old brilliant-, rose-cut and cushion-shaped diamonds.
Accompanied by a gemmological report.
By family repute, this emerald brooch is believed to have been passed down from The Walker’s of Southgate, a prominent cricketing family whose home, Arnos Grove House gave its name to the Piccadilly Tube line station. The family’s wealth was accrued from the Taylor Walker Brewery Company and they were prominent philanthropists in the Southgate area. In 1855 they founded the Middlesex County Cricket Club and were very involved in the establishment of Lords Cricket Ground.
