From 1819 onwards, Samuel Prout regularly made sketching tours to Europe. In 1829 he visited Prague and this detailed drawing sees him depicting one of the great buildings of that city.


1829 was an important year for the artist, as it was then that he was appointed Painter in Ordinary in Watercolours to George IV.
