Movement: frosted gilded 2/3 plate, lever escapement, fusee and chain, blued steel screws, screwed chatons with diamond jewelling, signed and numbered Thomas Bryan, 98 Gt. Homer St., Liverpool, No. 2522

• Dial: white enamel, Roman numerals, outer track for minutes/seconds, sunken centre and subsidiary dial for 30-hour up-and-down indication, gold spade hands, blued steel centre seconds

Case: 18ct gold, polished covers, the front with vacant cartouche, stop slide to the band by 4 o'clock, plain gold ring pendant, polished gold cuvette with apertures for winding and hand-setting surrounded by decorative floral engraving, case covers and cuvette hallmarked Chester 1873 and with maker's mark J GR, cuvette numbered 2522, covers numbered 22
