Distilled in Spring 1958, bottled in Spring 1966, Stitzel-Weller Distillery, tax strip slightly worn, gold foil around neck tarnished and oxidized, front label stained and soiled, back label very slightly creased, includes original neck tag

Old Fitzgerald was the flagship brand of the Stitzel-Weller Distillery, led by Julian “Pappy” Van Winkle. The whiskey came in a variety of ages. While under his management, 'Pappy' Van Winkle refused to bottle Old Fitzgerald at anything less than the domestic requirement of 100 Proof, set out by the Bottled In Bond Act of 1897. The Bottled-in-Bond Act of 1897 made it illegal to label any spirit bonded if it was aged past 8 Years. This was changed in 1958.
