Description
Van Winkle 15 Year Old Family Reserve 'Private Stock' 90 Proof NV
Green glass, from Pappy Van Winkle's Private Stock, bottled by Old Rip Van Winkle Distillery, Lawrenceburg KY, bottle #3141, red wax capsule shows signs of old seepage where air bubble and pull tab meet, parafilm remnants adhered around wax capsule, slight staining on neck of bottle, Japanese import sticker adhered to rear of bottle
This whiskey comes from one of the first releases of Van Winkle Family Reserve in its now-familiar Cognac-style bottles. For years Gordon Hue, the owner of the Cork 'N Bottle wine and spirits store in northern Kentucky, had been trying to get the Van Winkles to upgrade their releases of whiskey bought from the Stitzel-Weller distillery. Finally, Julian Van Winkle III listened – he had just bought the old Hoffman distillery, renamed Old Commonwealth, as a bottling facility. This extremely rare 15 year old was among his initial offering, which went exclusively overseas.
1 bottle 75cl (no original packaging)
