A MEISSEN YELLOW-GROUND TEAPOT AND COVER CIRCA 1730-35


after a Japanese form, painted on either side with two overlapping flowering branches and a winged insect, affixed with short spout and a high arching handle terminating in molded flowerheads, each painted with small flower sprigs, the cover similarly decorated beneath the finial picked out in iron-red, crossed swords mark in underglaze-blue, incised Dreher's mark X for Johann Christoph Pietzsch, Sr. or Johann Daniel Rehschuh (Rückert ,1990, pp. 123-24).
