The Swiss artist Abraham Ducros lived in Rome for over twenty years, and his paintings portraying the surroundings of the city were among those most sought-after by his contemporaries. The present work depicts the waterfalls of Villa Gregoriana at Tivoli, one of Ducros' most favoured locations.
