The reference 5054 was manufactured during 6 years only, between 1999 and 2005, making great aesthetical use of the rare hinged case construction. This Officer case design harks back to the pocket watch traditional crafting, allowing the hinged cuvette to unveil the highly-praised cal. 240. During its rather short production period, the reference 5054 was available in yellow, pink and white gold in addition to platinum.
The present white gold example bears a white dial, interestingly decorated with Roman numeral indexes to its top part only. While the caliber 240 is a true development platform for Patek Philippe, this specific cal. was improved to indicate the date, power reserve, moon phase and offset small seconds display.
