The depiction of Saint Benedict Joseph Labre was a theme explored by Cavallucci on multiple occasions. Other examples by Cavallucci of the saint in varying poses can be found in the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston,1 and the Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Antica, Palazzo Barberini, Rome.2 Labre lived his life as a pilgrim, surviving on donations from begging, and is the patron saint of the homeless.
