Compare the bezel with that of two rings in the Koch Collection catalogued as Byzantine, late 5th/6th century (Chadour, op. cit.). For a hoop with stylistically parallel granular beadwork decoration, note nos. 873 and 874 in the Guilhou collection (op. cit.), ascribed also to the Byzantine empire, 5th/6th century.
