Marihuana (1936) Poster, US
Unframed: 41 1/2 x 27 3/4 in. (105.4 x 70.5 cm)
This 1936 exploitation film was directed by Dwain Esper, and written by Esper's wife, Hildagarde Stadie. The message that the film was trying to convey was that the possibility of smoking marijuana could eventually lead to becoming addicted to heroin. Although the film had cult status when it was released, it became more popular on college campuses in the 1960s.
