This convex mirror is a modern interpretation of a classic early 19th-century mirror from the collection of the renowned architect Stanford White (1853–1906). The mirror held a prominent place in the dining room of his Box Hill estate, alongside numerous Delft ceramics, offering an evocative glimpse into the cosmopolitan taste of this great collector. A major figure in late 19th-century American architecture, he is best known as one of the partners of the firm McKim, Mead & White, one of the most influential of its time.
