This Japanese animated film was written, produced, and directed by Hayao Miyazaki, and was an adaptation of the 1985 novel of the same name by Eiko Kadono. It was made by Studio Ghibli, and was the first film released under a fifteen year distribution partnership they had with The Walt Disney Company. It is a coming-of-age film, which tells the story of a young witch, Kiki, who moves to a new town during her mandatory year of independent living. She finds it difficult to fit into her new community, and supports herself by running an air courier service.
