This coming-of-age romantic film was directed by Luca Guadagnino. The screenplay was written by James Ivory, who also co-produced the film. The film is based on André Aciman's novel of the same name. The film stars Timothée Chalamet, Armie Hammer, Michael Stuhlbarg, Amira Casar, Esther Garrel and Victoire Du Bois. The film is set in northern Italy in 1983 and tells the story of the romantic relationship between a seventeen-year-old student and a twenty-four-year-old graduate student, who is hired by the younger man's father, an archaeology professor, as his research assistant. It is a beautiful story of first love.
