Wiley Post (1898-1935) was a famed aviator who completed two around-the-world record flights using a special Lockheed Model 5C Vega plane called the Winnie Mae.
As per the inscription to the present lot, Post entered the Winnie Mae in the National Air Races and made a timed record flight from Los Angeles to Chicago in 9 hrs. 9 mn. 4 sec. on August 27th, 1930.
