the round backs terminating in scrolled elbows, the padded arms, back and squab cushion all uphosltered in champagne-coloured brocade silk, the serpentine front rail centred by a fluted plaque with paterae, the turned legs terminating in brass castors

A pair of giltwood bergères attributed François Hervé that feature similar fluted tablets with paterae to the front rail are in the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston (obj. no. 2014.189.1-.2). A set of twelve giltwood armchairs also attributed to Hervé with the same feature sold at Christie's London, The Spencer House Sale, 8 July 2010, lot 1052.
