Description
the body of water buffalo horn, polished and carved to resemble the head and neck of a peacock, with iron suspension loop, the lid with an iron spring and thumb-piece.

The powder horn opens at the beak to allow powder to be poured into the gun. The peacock comb forms a thumb-piece, and the beak aperture is kept closed by a short spring mounted on the neck pressing on the thumb-piece.
