Bargueño would be the Spanish pronunciation for this wooden collector's cabinet. Of Asian inspiration, it first appeared in Europe in the late Middle Ages and became common in the Colonial Latin American Empire from the late 16th century onward. Essentially a chest with a fall front, the interior is divided into an arrangement of drawers traditionally inlaid with camel bone and meant as a travelling chest.
