Description

the handscroll inscribed with Chinese kaishu and Manchu script in ink and color, composed of seven different colored sections of silk brocade, the opening section with two dragons flanking the characters fengtian gaoming ('imperial mandate of heaven') and repeated at the other end in Manchu, the yellow brocade impressed with two imperial seals zhi gao zhi bao ('the edict seal') and dated to the 15th day of the 10th month of the 25th year of the Daoguang reign (in accordance with 1845), a further section of textile forming a protective covering over the rolled scroll
