The 1675 GMT-Master is a reference that needs no interaction. The much needed improvement to the mythical 6542, reference 1675 was the first Rolex to be fitted with a bi-colour aluminium bezel, a feature which not only ran for the next half century, but also widely adopted by the entire industry. The present example originates from the early years of 1675 production, which can be told through the beautiful “open chapter ring” gilt dial and “pointed crown guard” case.
Diving deeper, the present watch also contains other features making it even more attractive. Collectors will appreciate the period and earlier bezel insert, beautifully faded with age, attached to earlier and correct bezel with deeper knurling. The smaller GMT hand is also early and correct. However, the characteristic that will really please connoisseurs is the “double swiss” signature at 6 o’clock, a hallmark of the rare and desirable “type B open chapter ring” dial. While any of these features would attract collectors on their own, to find all of these features correct and present on a single watch will draw in all fans of vintage Rolex.
On top of this all, the watch is in very well preserved and beautiful condition.
