Often referred to as the "Pre-Daytona," the reference 6238 was launched in 1960s and remained in production until around 1967. Collectors frequently call the reference 6238 the "Pre-Daytona," as it directly precedes the reference 6239, which holds the distinction of being the very first Cosmograph Daytona introduced by Rolex.

Distinguished by its monochromatic dial, this model marked the end of an era as the final Rolex chronograph to feature a smooth bezel and a graduated tachymeter scale printed directly on the dial. The watch has furthermore been retained in very original condition.
