The RM014 was the brand's gateway to the seafaring world - shifting gears from the racing track, the brand embarks on an aquatic journey towards the brave oceans. Inspired by the ‘Maltese Falcon’, a three-masted yacht made in 2006 at the Perini Navi shipyards, the Richard Mille team drew as much inspiration from Yacht making to put in use for their innovative wristwatches. Such aspirations included the extensive use of steel and black polished steel in its movement. The calibre is a successor of the RM002, inheriting the tourbillon on a carbon nano fibre baseplate, while moving the power reserve, torque and function selector to the right side of the dial.

While the RM014 is already nothing of the ordinary, the present lot is a limited edition crafted exclusively for the Japan market only. The case is in blue and white carbon TPT, which stands for Thin Ply Technology, an extremely light and strong composition which allows construction freedom of different colours. The result is a stylish and expressive, dynamic timepiece on the wrist, perfect for the sporty lifestyle.

The present example bears the case number 00/07, rendering it a possible prototype.
