Description
An Israeli Silver and Glass Passover Set, Menachem Berman, Jerusalem, 2002
hexagonal, the top with a Star of David cut-out fitted with six plain silver cups and a footed bowl with cup, the latter etched with stylized flowers, four glass side panels etched with four rows of Hebrew inscriptions, the other two sides with silver vertical “blinds”, fitted with three plexiglass shelves and with mirrored base, raised on six post-form supports, marked on base with with facsimile signature M Berman and 925F and inscribed

The inscription on the cup reads: “This is my God and I will glorify Him” [Ex. 15:2]. On the sides of the dish itself are several other verses and phrases taken from the Song of the Sea [Ex. 15]. The inscription on the base reads: "This Seder Plate Shiram Hayam was made by Menachem Berman for Hal and Anita Peretz Jerusalem 2002."
Menachem Berman was born in 1929 and educated at Yeshiva College in Tel-Aviv, followed by training at the Bezalel School of Arts and Crafts where in 1956 he became Chief Instructor in the department of Metal Crafts.
