rectangular, the smooth ebony ground applied with the rose-cut diamond-set French royal cipher, within reeded gold mounts, matching pencil surmounted with an oval diamond-framed layered agate plaque, the matrix carved with a crest in the form of an eagle, silk-lined interior, rubbed maker's mark, charge and discharge marks for Louis Robin (1738-1744), Paris date letter for 1742-43
